NAWBO-Indy

01 — Project details

NAWBO-Indy, the Indianapolis chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners, approached me with a website that was functional but lacked personality. While it provided information, the site fell short of inspiring and uplifting its target audience—female business owners. The board wanted a tone that balanced encouragement with professionalism, avoiding over-the-top “boss babe” vibes while staying within the branding and voice guidelines of the national organization. The site also needed to be user-friendly, with seamless access to resources, event registrations, and member profiles.

02 — Creative process

I collaborated closely with the board through several discussions to define the tone and goals for the website. Drawing inspiration from their vision, I infused the site with a tone that was motivational yet grounded, balancing a sense of empowerment with professionalism. I worked hard, accepted feedback along the way, and pivoted when necessary. I was able to write copy that felt fresh and engaging while staying true to the organization’s identity. The site was designed to house comprehensive resources, event information, and user-friendly portals for registration, membership management, and sponsorship opportunities, ensuring seamless navigation for users.

03 — Results

The new NAWBO-Indy website successfully struck the perfect balance of inspiration and functionality. Members gained an intuitive platform to access events, resources, and community connections, all presented in a tone that resonated with their goals and aspirations. The project’s complexity provided valuable lessons, while the final product delivered an engaging, resource-rich online experience for female business owners in the Indianapolis community.
