Moves for Less

01 — Project details

Moves for Less, a moving company in Indianapolis, IN, came to us seeking to tap into new markets to grow their business. With strong connections to local realtors, they wanted to target homeowners whose properties had just been listed on the market. We identified this as a prime opportunity to position Moves for Less as the preferred moving company early in the decision-making process. To make an impact, we proposed a direct mail campaign designed to be both attention-grabbing and unforgettable.

02 — Creative process

My design cohort envisioned a 3D mailer that would arrive folded and pop up into the shape of a house when opened, ensuring it was visually striking and memorable. The messaging had to not only resonate with homeowners but also align with the client’s branding as an affordable, budget-friendly moving company. With this in mind, we leaned into the universal frustration of moving, paired with the company’s reputation for simplifying the process. The result was an attention-grabbing phrase: “Moving Sucks. We Can Make It Better.” Displayed prominently on the roof of the house, it matched Moves for Less’ no-nonsense, relatable tone. The sides featured practical information like contact details and services, including long-distance moving, packing, and box rentals, all appealing to cost-conscious clients.

03 — Results

The direct mail campaign proved highly effective. The unique pop-up design and budget-friendly messaging resonated with recipients, leading to a significant uptick in calls from homeowners preparing to move. The campaign successfully positioned Moves for Less as an approachable and affordable solution, resulting in substantial new business. This project stands out as a favorite, demonstrating how thoughtful design and on-brand messaging can work together to achieve remarkable results.
