Luna Apartments, a newly renovated complex in the historic Luna Theater district of downtown Lafayette, wanted to pay homage to the area’s rich history. They sought large format graphics and accompanying copy to capture the essence of the theater district’s past and its significance to the community. The challenge was to create content that would blend seamlessly with the stunning design work and celebrate the area's storied past in a visually striking way.
I teamed up with our lead designer on this project, which was my first experience writing copy for large format graphics. Together, we had a blast, with the designer's incredible work complementing my writing. I dove into historical research, uncovering fascinating details about the theater district and its role in the city’s evolution. The project involved writing copy that both encapsulated that bygone era and also created a sense of nostalgia. I also worked on a timeline that depicted key milestones in the district’s history. The goal was to capture the imagination of both new residents and long-time locals who appreciated the city's rich history.
The Luna Apartments owner provided fantastic feedback, expressing great satisfaction with how the history of the district was brought to life through our collaboration. The finished product is a powerful visual experience for anyone passing through the halls. For me, it was a rewarding experience to contribute to the preservation of the city’s heritage. Now, the work we created will remain a lasting part of downtown Lafayette—a small but meaningful piece of my contributions to the community.
